Guernsey Museum Lectures





PUBLIC LECTURES AT GUERNSEY MUSEUM May to July 2015

A series of public lectures is being held in conjunction with Guernsey Museum’ summer
exhibition ‘Celts and Romans – Treasures and Trade’,
Tuesday 26 May, Dr Phil de Jersey will talk about ‘On the edge of the Celtic world: the
Channel Islands and their response to Rome’.
Tuesday 2nd June, Dr Phil de Jersey continues the Celtic story with ‘Hiding treasure on an
offshore island: the Jersey coin hoards of the first century BC’.
Tuesday 9 June, we then hear about ‘Romans in the Bailiwick’ from Dr Jason Monaghan.
Tuesday 23 June, Dr Jason Monaghan concludes with ‘Guernsey’s Romano-Celtic ship’.
All the above are at the Frossard Lecture Theatre Candie, 8pm and entry is Free.
In addition, on Thursday 9 July, Dr Jason Monaghan will deliver ‘The Latest news from
Roman Guernsey and Alderney’, as The Alderney Society Mendham at the Island Hall.
‘Celts and Romans – Treasures and Trade’ is open daily at Guernsey Museum until October.
